wcchi WordPressI recently attended the 2016 WordPress WordCamp in Chicago. There were several reasons for attending including wanting to meet other developers, designers, entrepreneurs like myself. Other reasons were to find out how I could improve my business. Lastly, I wanted to see what it might be like to teach a session at a WordCamp so I could see if it was something that I might want to do in a future WordCamp.

After arriving in Chicago on a train a day before, I got settled in and rested before the start of the conference on Saturday. I attended a full day of workshops from developing WordPress websites to managing your WordPress business. Below are some of the courses I took were you can see the list of the slides from the presentation here.

For the most part, I’m so glad that I went and experience this conference. Everyone was very friendly and sociable compared to the what you might think of a bunch of computer nerds.

What did I come away with?

First this conference confirms that I do want to focus on training in WordPress and social media because there is a need for training after your website has been built. Many developers don’t have the patience to teach their clients about WordPress after the site is done. My passion is teaching so I will gladly work with clients to teach them how to update their website.
